Physicians Immediate Care Eastern Port St Lucie History
We opened our doors in February 2003. This office, located on the eastern end of Port St. Lucie Boulevard at the corner of Morningside Drive, was the first Physicians Immediate Care facility to open on the Treasure Coast. During the fall of 2004 Port St Lucie suffered damage from 3 concurrent hurricanes and our facility wasn’t spared, we lost the roof and had major interior damage. Our staff pulled together and provided much needed medical care to our community in a construction trailer and the portion of the office which had the least damage while we rebuilt. Our “mother” facility is a 3,500 square foot space which is equipped with 7 fully stocked examination rooms that are ready to treat patients for injury or illness.
Our Eastern location offers primary care related services, urgent care services, injury treatment, and occupational medicine services such as drug screening, alcohol testing, pre-employment physicals and workers compensation services. We are staffed by two clerical staff members, two clinical staff members, an office manager, a medical services provider and our billing staff and manager. We want insure that your visit here with us is fast, friendly and convenient.
Physicians Immediate Care Eastern facility is equipped with digital X-Ray. Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging, where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. While radiation is inevitable from x-rays, digital x-rays do have far lower levels than those emitted through traditional x-rays. In fact, digital x-rays produce levels of radiation that is 80% lower than traditional x-rays.
Onsite CLIA waived testing is available at our Eastern location. CLIA waived tests are performed by use of a cartridge or dipstick method by our medical assistants. Utilizing CLIA waived testing allows us to give quick diagnosis of things like streptococcal throat infection, urinary tract infection, pregnancy, etc. We also draw blood for more extensive testing, prepare it for transport and send it out by courier to a nationally recognized laboratory.
For our patient’s convenience we offer diagnostic ultrasound by appointment only on designated days. Diagnostic ultrasound, also called sonography or diagnostic medical sonography, is an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions. Ultrasound is done only by order of a Physicians Immediate Care provider.
