Most adults are likely to have a common cold two to four times a year, while children may have a common cold as many as six to ten times annually.

A common cold is usually harmless and only lasts about a week or two.

 

More than 200 viruses can cause a common cold, and symptoms can vary greatly.

Symptoms can include:

  • runny nose
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • watery eyes
  • sneezing
  • congestion
  • irritability
  • tiredness
